The drought is being blamed on a 30 per cent fall in hatchings at the Koorana Crocodile Farm in central Queensland. The crocodile breeding season is dependent on the monsoon and in a good season stimulates sexual activity. But near Rockhampton this year, rainfall has been well below average.Crocodile farmer John Lever says only 1,100 baby crocodiles have been born, including a rare set of twins which did not survive."Overall we are quite happy with the year and as I say, we would like more rain but that's like other farmers, they all want rain as well," he said. "We suffer from lack of rainfall just the same as other farmers, so we are all in the same boat."Source: ABC Rural online
