Florida woman survives shark attack

A woman bitten by a shark in Florida required three hours of surgery to repair damage to her back, it was reported.Andrea Lynch was floating on her back Wednesday night when a shark sank its teeth in her ribs and pelvis, shook her and then let her go, the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune reported Saturday.Lynch, 20, managed to climb back on board her boat, where her friends telephoned for help."I reached back with my hand and felt all these gashes on me, and there was blood running down my body and pooling in the boat," Lynch said.It was the second report of a shark bite in Sarasota County this year and only the seventh reported in the county since 1882, said officials from the International Shark Attack File at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville.Judging from photos of the bite, shark experts at Mote Marine Laboratory believe the shark was a bull shark about six feet long, the Herald-Tribune reported.
